the idea
I’m a scientist and science communicator, and as part of my job I make podcasts. I’ve also been a fan of The X-Files for about 30 years now, so I thought I should try to mush all these things together and make a show that at least I would enjoy listening to. That became Hey Danny, It’s Mulder—a way for me to explore and learn about The X-Files as a piece of transmedia storytelling. You see, I’m interested in why I as a fan love the comics, games, collectibles, books, audio dramas, and posters. I’m interested in how all those things add to The X-Files experience for me. So in each episode, I’ll be speak with someone who works on a piece of The X-Files universe, about how they work, their creative process, and the skills they had to develop. If you’re an X-Files fan, I hope the podcast will offer you more to discover about your favourite show. If you’re not an X-Files fan, I hope it will offer insights into the design and production of an iconic piece of popular culture.
